For those who appreciate fine dining as much as a great view on vacation, a crewed yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands (BVI) offers the perfect blend of culinary excellence and breathtaking scenery.
Many crewed yachts offer half-board meal plan options which allows you to enjoy some meals ashore to experience the quirky local restaurants dotted around the islands. Should you wish to indulge in some of the top culinary restaurants in the BVI, below is a guide to our top stops for fabulous meals ashore while cruising around on your luxury crewed yacht! 1. The Drake Steakhouse – Private Paradise at Peter Island
Peter Island is one of the BVI’s most exclusive private island, and a place where tranquility meets luxury. The Drake Steakhouse has a wide array of prime meats, fresh seafood, and chic cocktails, promising an unforgettable dining experience. Enjoy the blend between a classic American Steakhouse and the vibrant essence of the Caribbean.
While in the North Sound, we’d recommend heading over to Oil Nut Bay, in Deep Bay for a dining experience at Nova with panoramic views. Nova offers a fresh, modern menu featuring locally sourced seafood, sushi, and creative cocktails. Whether you opt for their signature tuna tartare or a crisp bottle of wine from their extensive selection, Nova is the epitome of sophisticated island dining.
3. Coco Maya – Beachfront Elegance in Virgin Gorda
In Spanish Town, you’ll find one of Virgin Gorda’s most beloved dining spots, Coco Maya. It’s beachfront setting and fusion of Asian and Latin flavors make it a one-of-a-kind in the BVI. Every dish is beautifully plated and bursting with flavor, and their signature cocktails are the perfect way to watch the sun set over the water.
Another must-see in Virgin Gorda is The Restaurant at Leverick Bay. It’s not a place that comes to mind for most as it doesn’t have the same hype as some of the North Sound’s other spots, however we’ve only heard of people having fabulous nights to remember! The Restaurant offers breathtaking views and an impeccable wine selection to accompany an evening in paradise.
For those who love a hidden gem, Ikigai at Biras Creek is a must-visit. Tucked away in the North Sound, this serene retreat offers a refined yet relaxed atmosphere. Ikigai offers an Japanese-Caribbean Omakase experience, a set menu at the Chef’s discretion, with 12 courses incorporating locally sourced ingredients. Ikigai is as exclusive as you can get as its limited to 12 seats and one session daily.
No trip to the BVI is complete without experiencing Anegada’s famous lobster. Your crew will advise you on their favourite spot, and may even cook some Anegada Lobster aboard, but if you do head ashore, enjoy a beachfront feast at The Lobster Trap, known for its fresh, grilled-to-perfection Caribbean lobster. Enjoy the laid-back island vibes, live music, and delicious flavors that make Anegada a must-visit for food lovers.
If you happen to come across Pomato Point on Anegada, you’ll be privy to a secluded white-sand beach, perfect for a sunset stroll. You’ll then come across Sid’s, a lovely restaurant famous amongst the locals for their delicious tacos. We’d ship Sid’s tacos all the way to Tortola if we could!
Make your way to White Bay Jost Van Dyke, home to some of the best beach bars in the Caribbean, and one of our favourite lesser-known restaurants. Alice’s offers a wide menu of delicious classics and elevated home meals. Pastas, wood-fire pizzas, steak frites, but done oh so right! The elegant yet welcoming atmosphere makes it a favorite among sailors and vacationers alike.
Whenever we dine at Indigo we always feel transported to Greece, as its setting is almost over the water with beautiful blue and white architecture and intimate dining, although their menu represents refined Caribbean cuisine. From freshly caught seafood to decadent desserts, every dish is prepared with precision and passion.
A perfect blend of dining ashore and onboard your luxury crewed yacht is the ideal way to vacation in paradise, especially if you’re looking to explore the BVI with your tastebuds. Whether dining ashore or enjoying a gourmet meal prepared by your private chef, each stop recommended promises a unique and unforgettable experience. View our itinerary starting at Nanny Cay here!
