This Was The Best Of Them!

I wanted to share how wonderful our recent charter (June 6-13) was on the A3 with Kyle Bevan and Tiggy (Antigua) Steward.
Kyle was a spectacular captain and participated in everything with unlimited enthusiasm and energy. I could not imagine a captain being more involved on a charter than Kyle was with all of us. Water sport activities, clearly communicating our plan and options for each day, hiking and snorkeling with us, and more - he did it all with tireless zeal and incredible attention to detail. We’ve had great experiences during our previous charters, but having Kyle as captain on the A3 made it exceptional.

Tiggy was a late crew change as chef and first mate on the A3. Likewise, she was awesome. The meals she prepared were delicious and beautiful in presentation. She was kind, enthusiastic, involved, and was a huge part in making it such an exceptional trip.

She and Kyle worked so hard and made themselves available with constant positive attitudes and smiles. We loved the A3 catamaran but it was Kyle and Tiggy that made the trip for everyone. Their efforts were such that I would recommend them to anyone and would happily have them lead us on another charter in the future. We’ve had great experiences chartering in the BVI and USVI but this was the best because of them.

The Best Charter By Far - 2 previous BVI/USVI charters

My name is William and I wanted to share how wonderful our recent charter (June 6-13) was on the A3 with Kyle Bevan and Tiggy (Antigua) Steward.

Previously we’ve been on 2 charters (Caribbean Dream 2012 and Big Nauti 2021) to the BVI and USVI so we’re familiar with the experience and trip. We took our children (17 yr and 21 yr boys) on this sailing trip for the first time as well. Wesley, who also sailed on the previous trips, and her children (22yr and 25yr) made up the rest of our group of 7.

Kyle was a spectacular captain and participated in everything with unlimited enthusiasm and energy. I could not imagine a captain being more involved on a charter than Kyle was with all of us. Water sport activities, clearly communicating our plan and options for each day, hiking and snorkeling with us, and more - he did it all with tireless zeal and incredible attention to detail. We’ve had great experiences during our previous charters, but having Kyle as captain on the A3 made it exceptional.

Kyle and Robyn were amazing. They guided us throughout the week with different activities that were perfect for our family. They were so friendly and fun to hang out with.

The food was incredible! Robyn spoiled us every day with delicious, beautifully presented food! And was super accommodating for some allergies on board.

How did you find the pace and the itinerary of your charter?
The pace was great. Our family likes to stay busy, and Kyle knew exactly what to do to help us have different adventures.

I can’t brag enough on Kyle and Robyn. They went above and beyond to make the trip perfect.

The yacht was beautiful and comfortable- much more so than I expected! A variety of spots to be in the shade if wanted or in the sun. The bed was comfortable and the shower water hot! The yacht had great communal spaces to hang out in.

How would you describe your crew? Were they courteous? Helpful? Friendly? Attentive? Knowledgeable? Accompanied you on your activities/land excursions? Wore uniforms and acted professionally?:
Kyle and Robyn were AMAZING. They made the trip for us. We throughly enjoyed getting to know them, learning about sailing from their expertise, and getting to know the area based on their knowledge. They felt like a very natural extension of our group and we were sad to leave them at the end of our trip!

Was the food great and well presented? Did the menus meet your expectations? Did your crew pay attention to your preference sheets?:
The food was delicious! Robyn made the meals a surprise and we loved each and every one. She accommodated non-seafood eaters with a different protein which was very much appreciated. We were impressed with the variety of table scapes and beautiful presentation. No detail was overlooked.

How did you find the pace and the itinerary of your charter?:
The pace was perfect- we wanted to see a lot on a shorter charter and Kyle made it happen!

Additional comments about the yacht and the crew?:
Everything far exceeded our expectations. This was an incredible experience. We can't thank Kyle and Robyn enough for such a wonderful trip. We will be back for sure!!

It was perfection!

Our charter yacht was very comfortable - each cabin had its own bathroom and lots of storage space as well as plugs for electronics. The master, where we stayed, had a little desk as well. The flybridge was a lovely space that always had lots of shade, comfy seating and a cool breeze. The AC worked very well and we were very comfortable.

How would you describe your crew? Were they courteous? Helpful? Friendly? Attentive? Knowledgeable? Accompanied you on your activities/land excursions? Wore uniforms and acted professionally?
Captain Kyle and Chef Robyn were amazing! They were incredibly attentive and anticipated our needs. The Captain had a superb grasp of the area and history, and our nickname for him became Captain Siri because he was so knowledgeable and always had great answers to any of our questions. They were very professional and made this a great experience for us.

Was the food great and well presented? Did the menus meet your expectations? Did your crew pay attention to your preference sheets?
The food was delicious, Chef Robyn did a great job incorporating our preferences and each plate and table setting (which changed every meal) was impeccable. You can tell she takes great care in her work and we benefitted immensely.

How did you find the pace and the itinerary of your charter?
Every day was fantastic.

Additional comments about the yacht and the crew?
This was a perfect experience, and all guests said it was one of their best vacations ever. We cannot say enough about how awesome our crew was - they made this so special and memorable for us.

One Of The Best Crews

Kyle and Robyn were undoubtedly one of the best crews we have ever had and we have chartered over 20 times.
They were new to their yacht but worked together like a well-oiled machine. They were so competent, professional, and knowledgeable. But most of all they were such delightful people. I cried when we left.

The anchorages were wonderful and my husband's diving was also superb. I got to snorkel wonderful spots every day. I was in heaven. One of the best trips we have ever had.

The trip was outstanding.
Captain Kyle and First Mate/Chef Robyn were all anyone could have expected from a crew. They were both so friendly and accommodating of every wish we had. Robyn's attention to detail in preparing every meal was truly outstanding. The itinerary was as good as it could have been given the 7-days, but I wish we could have stayed another week to see more destinations in the BVI, which has so many places we could have stopped at.

One Of Our Favorites!

We booked a trip to BVI. Our captain and First Mate Kyle and Robyn were absolutely amazing. They were both friendly, accommodating, fun to be around, professional and made our vacation spectacular. The scuba diving was wonderful. The snorkeling was amazing as well. The food was delicious at every single meal. I ate and drank more on this vacation than I have at any other.
Everything was well organized and professional from the time I booked to the time I walked off the boat. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

Well Beyond Expectations

I recently tasked my broker to find a last minute charter for myself and my 3 teenage children. He provided me with 3 exceptional catamarans to choose from and worked tirelessly to meet my family’s needs.
With his help I chose the 56’ Lagoon ‘A3’. Captain Jake and First Mate Maia from ‘A3’were exceptional in every way. Captain Jake provided an outstanding itinerary that included 6 days of cruising to the best spots in the BVI. Our floating home for the week was perfectly maintained and fully equipped with everything needed to enjoy the islands.

First Mate Maia’s hospitality was well beyond our expectations. Every meal onboard was made from scratch including fresh baked focaccia for grilled Chicken and Mozzarella paninis.

I can honestly say that after many years of chartering sailing yachts I have never experienced such a high level of hospitality, service and professionalism as I did on Captain Jake’s and Maia’s ‘A3’.

We're Still On Cloud 9!

It's been a week since our return from a fantastic trip on A3 with Jake and Maia, and our group is still on Cloud 9! We can't stop sharing the experience with our friends - accompanied with great stories and photos.

Personally, I've logged over 110 nights on charters, both bareboat, a few with a skipper, and two trips with a cook. Destinations include BVI (5), USVI, Windwards (2), Bahamas, Greece (3), Italy, and Croatia. All have been great, but nothing compares to A3 and the wonderful crew of Jake and Maia! Two other couples have been with us for most of those trips, and they too were astounded by this trip. Our newbie couple are now completely spoiled and thought all sailtrips were like this one.

Jake was professional from the get-go, starting with a safety briefing as soon as we were underway. He got us where we wanted to go, listened to a couple of my suggestions, and offered some of his own. Boat toys were always ready, and he kept A3 in top condition. Jake pitched in during meal service, and, of course, with great drink concoctions. He served as dive master for one of our friends, who was very impressed with Jake's skill under the water.

Maia absolutely blew us away with her food in preparation, style, contents, and presentation! How did she do that in A3's galley? And how great was it that A3 had all the food storage space for Maia's three meals a day? I think she started with 144 eggs! That gal does far more than cook! The table presentation was a piece of art, with decorations, different placemats, candles, and lights. And then she presented the meal...Oh My! I've been on over 50 cruise ships, Maia's meals beat them all. Dressings and sauces made from scratch, fresh baked bread, flaming deserts, fantastic fruit plates. Her culinary skills are unbelievable.

&Beyond Yacht Charters is very lucky to have such a great boat as A3 in their fleet, accompanied by the wonderful crew of Maia and Jake. Hold 'em tight, give them praise, don't let them go, they do your proud! They are A Number One, on A3. Debbie and I are counting down the days until we are sailing on A3 again. Is it June yet?

Unforgettable First Class Vacation

We had a fantastic vacation adventure on the beautiful A3 with Captain Jake and Chef Maia. My husband and I have sailed all over the world and the A3 is, hands down, the best lay out, most comfortable and super luxurious boat we have chartered. The spacious berths with a queen sized bed and access on each side was an unexpected plus. We enjoyed the multiple comfy cushioned seating areas with access to near by refrigerators filled with beverages.

We were very impressed with Captain Jake and had total confidence in his abilities not only as a superb captain but as a professional dive master. He made sure our itinerary was both active and relaxing. He was easy going and fun but also very professional and you knew his top priority was to provide the best experience for his guests. And, his speciality drinks were a big hit with our group!

Chef Maia stole the show with her beautiful presentation of her from-scratch, delicious gourmet meals. She was warm and friendly and always had everything under control. We were amazed at her expertise and creativity in the meal planning and execution. The attention to details and service was top notch.

We would highly recommend the A3 and crew Jake and Maia for an unforgettable first class vacation experience.

Will Jump At The Chance To Sail With This Crew Again

When I first read the reviews, I was a little skeptical. 98% five star? Really?
However, after a week aboard A3 with captain Jake and chef Maia, our group of four couples were believers!

Three of the couples in our group have been sailing together for the last 12 years, usually chartering in the BVI, Windward‘s, Greece, Croatia and Italy. None of the cats we chartered compared to A3 in terms of comfort and layout. I normally bring a queen sized air mattress to put under the mattress in our cabin, sort of like box springs. That was not necessary on A3 since the bed was extremely comfortable. The cabin and head were ample in size, with more than ample storage. The flybridge seating, salon and aft dining area were all well laid out , with refrigerators at each location, and a sink and icemaker in the aft dining area. Perfect!

Captain Jake was personable, and a knowledgeable seaman and dive master. He makes a dangerously good painkiller or lime-in-da-coconut and was a serious competitor in any game from corn hole to dice games. Chef Maia, though, stole the show! From the lobster rolls awaiting us when we boarded, to the chocolate croissants she prepared the morning of our departure, her meals were delicious, mostly healthy and beautifully presented.

We would all jump at the chance to sail with this crew again!

The Crew Were Outstanding!

Sailing aboard A3 was the best sailing experience I have had to date. The boat and crew working together made it a grand experience. The boat was very comfortable and equipped with all the toys. The cabins were spacious with great storage and large comfortable beds.

The crew, Jake and Maia, were outstanding. Their mission was to ensure you had a wonderful time and we did. Each meal was a masterpiece! Maia’s culinary skills were off the chart. Every little detail was addressed, presentation and tablescape included.

Fabulous Trip On A3

We just returned from a fabulous BVI sailing trip on the A3 with Jake and Maia! What an incredible trip.

Captain Jake took us to wonderful islands and gave us the experience of a lifetime! He was so knowledgeable about everything Virgin Islands! He was an excellent captain and handled the boat perfectly. Jake also made us some incredible drinks!!! Be sure to ask him to mix up his Painkiller recipe!!
Maia was the most accomplished chef we’ve ever had! Every meal was spectacular and her presentation was like being in a 5 star restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner!

The boat was fully provisioned and ready to go as soon as we arrived. The cabins are great too with comfortable beds! The amenities on this cruise exceeded our expectations and we can’t wait to sail again with this crew on the A3!!!

Amazing and Incredible Food!

Maia ....lord have mercy this girl made and presented some incredible food! And we always loved having her around! Not to mention she always made sure that if anyone was headed off early to another excursion or missed a meal, there was always something ready "to go" for that person. She made some of the most beautiful dishes I’ve seen…and the flavors could nearly bring you to tears. This girl is going places🙌”

Jake was amazing! He was very accommodating with our itinerary. We had a lot of things we wanted to do/see and he graciously fitted it all in and we didn’t feel rushed. He was happy to tow the kids for tubing and wakeboarding several times. Once he knew we liked games, He introduced our families to a game that we’ll be playing again on our next vacation. Jake is so easy to talk to and be around.

Maia is a culinary queen of the seas. With a twirl of her apron and a sprinkle of sea salt she transformed the boat's kitchen into a culinary wonderland. We honestly ate better on board with Maia’s dishes than we did at the restaurants we had reservations to. Whether it was accommodating dietary restrictions or going the extra nautical mile to source the freshest ingredients, her attention to detail knew no bounds. She didn’t just feed our bodies, she nourished our solids with her kindness and consideration. Coffee was always brewing in the mornings and her homemade treats in between meals brightened our days. To chef Maia, the culinary queen of the ocean blue and the epitome of kindness.

We feel so fortunate to have this most amazing week on A3 with the wonderful Captain Colleen and Chef Matt! Forever memories were made this week - a perfect itinerary for us. Y'all are truly family - part of 7. The memories we make together last forever and our kids talk about each trip. I know Kaiden and Zach will continue scuba....thank you for encouraging Kaiden. He sure lit up after each dive. For Kinlee, there will always be a deck of cards on the table for a game of Sevens.

Each charter is a continuation of adventures in the VI and all (7) of us are fopeful to hit the BVI on the next charter.

The trip was absolutely AMAZING! I'm not even sure there are truly enough wonderful words or space to describe how much fun we had and how fabulous Matt and Colleen were. This is the first time we have ever lived on a boat for any kind of vacation. The USVI was beautiful. Colleen is full of interesting tidbits bits about the islands and gave us all kinds of neat recommendations and information as we sailed along. Matt....well...the food was INCREDIBLE. The entire weeks menu was spectacular. His cooking skills are pretty awesome. The presentation of the food was beautiful as well. Thanks to him, I gained a good bit of weight on our trip. They were both so very gracious. They decorated for my birthday and made it very special. Then the very next day had Christmas decor up. The weather was beautiful. We so enjoyed our time with some of our friends who vacationed with us. Colleen asked us at the end of the trip what our highs and lows were to this trip. I honestly could not think of any lows. Definitely one of our top 3 best relaxing vacations ever. They were both very accommodating. If we can swing it, we would definitely like to do another trip with them.

A3 is a 10 out of 10! The catamaran was beautiful and a good size, had all the amenities needed, and had great shaded seating areas for all 6 people in our group. The crew is top-notch. Captain Colleen is one of the hardest working women I know and was so easy going and delightful to be around. Chief Matt’s food and drinks were off the charts. You can never go wrong recommending this boat and crew to others! Thank you for helping us find them….we could not have had a better fit! We absolutely loved our vacation!

Matt and Colleen were wonderful! They made our dream vacation even better by all the ways they went above and beyond to see that our family had a wonderful time. Colleen made sure we visited the places we wanted to see. Matt made the most delicious food we have ever eaten, better than any 5 star restaurant. He made the most amazing specialty cocktails. The family loved getting up in the morning to see the theme of the day for the meals and drinks. Colleen was very informative about our questions about sailing and destinations. Matt and Colleen make a great team. It was our second trip with them and we hope to have another. The first one we didn't take the adult kids. We had such a great time we wanted to take our adult kids for our 30th anniversary. They made it a special time for entire family.

WOW, WOW, WOW!! I just do not have enough adjectives to describe how fantastic our time has been with Matt and Colleen aboard the A3 these past six days. As I write, we are en-route to our hotel for the final night of our holiday, and as we reflect back on our time, we are all so sad to be leaving such a fabulous crew and the comfort of A3. I struggle a little to identify the best part of this trip as so many things were top-notch! From the time of the greeting at the airport right through to the departure – every sail, every bite, every water excursion was perfection. As the owner of a luxury vacation rental firm, I could not fault a single experience (and believe me, that is a first!). I think it’s important to highlight the amount of time Colleen & Matt gave to our 12-year old son, Rhys. They never tired of going out with him on the dingy for an afternoon of water sports or a dive in and around some pretty spectacular locations. I can promise you, this is a trip my son will never forget, and it was due to the effort they put into ensuring he had a wonderful time. I could not end this note to you without commenting on Matt’s culinary skills. As you may know, Charleston is a big ‘foodie’ town and we’ve certainly enjoyed some amazing food over our 10-years in this beautiful city, but Matt’s food was some of the best we have ever experienced. Every meal was perfection! Not only did it look amazing, but every bite was also heavenly.

Suffice it to say, we are already talking about when we can come back and spend time with Matt & Colleen on A3. Thank you a million times over for pair us with such a fantastic crew. We are missing them already.

Frankly, I don’t know if there are enough good words to describe the experience. Several of our co-passengers thought it was the best vacation they ever had.

The crew is ideal. Captain Colleen is a highly professional and competent captain. The boat was spotless and she kept us on track and organized for the entire trip. She made us very comfortable at all times. The perfect captain.

Matt is an extremely talented chef. I have eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the world and was impressed by every meal. We ate seafood caught from the boat at least three times. They describe themselves as a “foody boat” and we certainly agreed.

Both Colleen and Matt worked hard for 16 hour days. I don’t know how they do it.

The boat itself is top notch. That Lagoon 56 has everything and is very roomy. They also have it stocked with high quality linens, plenty of dive equipment, great bar, great music, etc.

All that said, we would like to get details for signing up for the same week next year. Available? Deposit required? We would want the contract contingent on the same crew. BVI itinerary if the borders are open by then.

Thanksgiving 2020 - Broker provided comments

We had an absolutely wonderful time. The boat was fantastic, the weather was great and the crew were superb. Colleen was a great captain and really took to us, and especially our grandkids. She was the perfect fit for our family as was Matt. Matt proved to be a superb chef and a wonderful divemaster. We could not stop talking about his food, from the morning to the last dessert at night.

Having Stanley's 4th birthday on the boat was special and they decorated the boat up very nicely and Thanksgiving was exceptional.

I was having a ball because it turned out to be the event I hoped it would be and made wonderful memories for the entire family. Daddy got major props!! No drama, no stress, just what the doctor ordered.

Typical for the weather, the wind was on the nose as we made our way east along the north side of St Thomas and St. John's and was then non-existent as we sailed/motored west towards the end of the week. Oh well, thank God for engines. I did get to drive the boat some so I was very happy. We had a night sail/motor as well on a great evening. Could not have been better.

All in all, it was a fantastic week; the fit between family and crew ( we adopted them and wanted to take them home with us) was just right and your advice was spot on for us.

Remarkable vacation!

We had a remarkable vacation and attribute everyone’s satisfaction entirely to Matt and Colleen. We could not have had a better crew. Too many highlights to enumerate. The food was a high point for us all. Matt just kept those delicious, beautiful, varied meals coming and was very good about recognizing and remembering our likes and dislikes. We would go out with them again in a second. Not enough superlatives. I would note that both of them were particularly good about being totally calm in the water. Diving and snorkeling were made easy by these two confident, caring pros. Their teamwork in all phases of the trip is also noteworthy. They complimented each other perfectly. Complaints???? They went above and beyond to make sure we had our dream vacation. They met every need or want and then some. They truly make the best team to sail with. Their knowledge of sailing, the sea....above and below water, and the islands make them who you want to take you on the water. We had planned to eat several dinners on land...until we had our first taste of Matt's culinary skills! The meals he prepared were some of the best we've ever had or probably ever will have...until next time, that is! Colleen was an impressive but fun captain.We truly had the time of our life and a big part of that is because of them. We felt that we left as friends and plan to join them on another adventure!

Exceeded Expectations

Dear Colleen and Matt,
What more can I say on paper that we haven't already talked about? First and foremost, thank you! We had an idea of how and what to expect but you exceeded every expectation that we had.
Colleen - Thanks again for saving John "from the Indians" - eternally grateful. Your ability to remain calm under pressure is a gift. Matt - Tour guide/Chef/scuba extraordinaire - your efforts in and out of the galley were above and beyond.

Bucket List Trip

Matt & Colleen,
This cruise was on our "bucket list" and it fulfilled our desires in so many ways.

It is an understatement to say the meals were great - the variety was unbelievable, the presentation was amazing, and the taste superb. It is hard to believe you were able to produce such fine dining meals from the compact galley!

Colleen, your masterful boat handling compares with the captains on the high seas! We were never disappointed with the stops chosen, and your desire to make sure we were satisfied was another positive. Your knowledge of the area helped us do the things we hoped to do. The snorkeling was fun and enabled us to see things we've never seen before. The Baths were spectacular - as were the hiking trails.

Both of you created a memorable week for us in so many ways. Your personalities cheered and motivated us to attempt to many things.

Experiencing heavy blows and tropical rains enabled us to see your excellent boat handling and your desire to keep us safe. Everyday was a new adventure that helped us to enjoy sailing as well as learning something about this part of the Caribbean!

Thanks to both of you for giving us an unforgettable time with you and the boat.

New Year's Charter 2016

The entire family had a wonderful charter cruise December 27-January 3. We had wonderful weather and the ship was extremely comfortable and functional. We all enjoyed the islands we visited - Jost Van Dyke was the kids' favorite. We swam to the Soggy Dollar and took a taxi over to the infamous Foxys. We took a family hike on Norman Island and we had many lovely snorkels.
Yet the most memorable part of the trip was the crew. Captain Colleen and Chef/First Mate Matt planned a wonderful itinerary and made sure we were able to anchor near Bitter End Yacht Club for New Years. Matt's food was amazing - delicious but light and healthy! The kids already commented how we will miss his cookies when we return home.
We would love to some day take another charter cruise with Colleen and Matt.

Christmas Charter 2016

Matt & Colleen:
Mixed weather, a sputtering outboard, rouge jellyfish, and distasteful jellybeans are all part of the positive memories made during our voyage. Add to that, the great snorkeling, scuba dives, lounging beach days, and outstanding meals on board... We know we booked the right boat and crew for our family Christmas vacation! The Perfect Honeymoon

This trip was everything we could have imagined and more. Each day was a great adventure and we are so glad we got to see so many great beaches and bars. The food was incredible (as if you didn't notice the clean plates each meal)! This week has been the most memorable week of our lives. Colleen and Matt-
We cannot thank you enough for a week full of adventures, family memories, and experiences of "firsts". John and Jill were over the moon excited to share the VI and BVI with Kaiden and Kinlee. You have made the boat life a new way of life that we all enjoy. You both provided all of us -three generations- an experience and adventure to be remembered forever. Kaiden loved snorkeling with the barracuda and being Matt's sidekick. Kinlee, the adventurous five-year old, loved everything from fast rides, to learning to snorkel in the caves, and riding the swan.
Both of you have become an extension of friends and family to all of us. We are FOREVER thankful. Swimming, snorkeling, laughing, sailing, movie watching and lyric reciting laughs are to be remembered for years to come.

This trip has been such an amazing experience for us. We got to do things we never thought we could. Loved The Baths!!! We never even knew such a place existed. The food was beyond compare, but of course we know what a great Chef Matt is:) The boat is so comfortable and the personal touches and amenities made this such a relaxing vacation. Colleen, we are so sorry to have to leave, but we will be back for sure. We packed an awful lot into 5 days with Matt's sailing. We are looking forward to sharing all of our wonderful photos.
